Symposium on Smart materials and Films in Conferenceof Thin Films 2014

发布时间:2013-10-13

Dear Colleague:
You are kindly invited to participate a symposium on "Smart Materials and Films" in 7th International Conference on Thin Film and Coating Technology between July 15-18, 2014, held in Chongqing, China.
The objective of this symposium is to bring together researchers working in the new and exciting area of smart film materials and surface issues, which include the following topics:
(1) Shape memory, piezoelectric and responsive materials/polymers, thin films and coatings;
(2) Surface processing of shape memory, piezoelectric and responsive materials/polymers (plasma treatment, ion beam, electron beam, laser treatment, oxidation, coatings, etc);
(3) Surface related issues of shape memory, responsive and piezoelectric materials (corrosion, wear, friction, surface mechanics, cell growth, biocompatibility, biomemetic, etc).
(4) Experimental and mechanics of self-assembly and responsive surface elastic instability, and smart polymers including hydrogel;
(5) Surface wrinkling and bio-inspired surface structures, micro and nanoengineering on smart surfaces;
(6) Smart MEMS actuators, micro devices, and microsensors.

Papers presented at the symposium will be selectively published in either Thin Solid Films, Surface Coating Technology, or Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Letter. There are also three poster competition prizes to win.
Call for Papers for ThinFilms2014 in Singapore 14-17 July 2012 can be downloaded from the following website:

Following is more information about the Chongqing City and Thin Film 2014 Conference.
Chongqing is the largest of China's four direct controlled municipalities in population with a total population of over 30m (the others are Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin). The city is known as being an important economic center along the Yangtze River as well as a historical and cultural center for the country of China. The selling point for the conference is that Chongqing is the starting point for Ship Tour along YangZi River--going through Three Gorges (as beautiful as Norway Fjorge), and finally arriving in the world largest river Dam to swim. If you are energetic enough, you can dive into river to see those a few ghost cities submerged under the river due to the formation of Three Gorge Dam, or jumping over the river from where a tiger jumped over thousands years ago, or check if the "Goddess Peak" along the Gorges is really a goddess or actually an old man of Storr in Scotland: too many activities. You can directly fly to Chengdu from Amsterdam (Chengdu is two hour train distance from Chongqing) and have a chance to say hello to about 60 cute Pandas in Chengdu City.
