The Institute was founded in 1998, Academician Zuyao Xu of Chinese Academy of Sciences is the adviser. From January 1998 to September 2010, it’s professor Yonghua Rong leading the group. Then professor Xunjue Jin took on the duties of leadership till now. In 2010, the institute changed it’s name to Phase Transformation and Microstructure Design from Theory and Application of Phase Transformation, which was used from 1998 to 2010. The institute now has 10 members, including one academician, three professors, four associate professors, one lecturer and one engineer. The middle age and young teachers amounts to 60 percent.
